Mouth of the Elwha Beach

We drove to the west side of the Elwha River and the Mouth of the Elwah Beach Trailhead, this afternoon. We hike down to the beach, over to the mouth of the Elwha, part way up along the Elwha River, back to the beach and walked to the west and back, found a side trail that took us up a bit further along the Elwha River, lovely 2 miles of walking here.

Ginkgo Petrified Forest State Park

We stopped in Vantage Washington to walk the Ridge Trail and a long section of the Trees of Stone Interpretive Trail to make a 2 mile loop with 250 ft of gain. We went counterclock wise.
The trail goes up to a ridge, we had a view of the Columbia River in the distane.
fuzzy zoom of some of the elk we saw.

The exhibits of petrified wood are located in concrete enclosures with wire on top along the Trees of Stone Interpretive Trail.
Photos of some of the petrified wood taken between the wire grids covering the exhibits.

Papago Park

This morning we went to Papago Park in Phoenix Arizona to walk around some of the trails and up by some of the interesting rock formations while the sun was rising. We walked about 2 miles. Lovely views in the middle of the city.
