Rabbit Mountain Loop

This afternoon we did the Rabbit Mountain Loop at Valles Caldera National Preserve, about 3 miles with 450 ft of gain, getting up 9,200 ft of altitude. We went clockwise on the loop through a mostly burnt forest. We did see some golden aspens and wildflowers along with a good view of the caldera below. View towards Rabbit Mountain and the south rim of the caldera from the Visitor Center parking area inside the caldera.

Sulphur Springs

This morning we drove to the western border of Valles Caldera National Preserve to hike to Sulphur Springs at 8,200 ft of altitude, it was around freezing when we started. The hike is along a closed to vehicles road for 1/2 mile, then we wondered around looking at the hot springs and boiling mud. There were also some interesting rock formations along the road.
