Maiden Peak

We drove up to Deer Park in Olympic National Park to hike out to Maiden Peak on the Grand Ridge Trail. This was 7.5 miles round trip with 1,800 ft gain. We only came across one other hiker on this trail today. The wildflowers started soon after the beginning of the trail, here were Columbine, lupine and sitka valerian.
We saw fields of avalanche lilies from where the snow had recently melted.

After about 2 miles of hiking through the forest, we came out on to Grand Ridge, with fabulous views of the nearby peaks.
Looking ahead on the trail to Maiden Peak, our destination today.
