Klahhane Ridge

We drove up to Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park to hike over to the Switchback Trail and up to Klahhane Ridge, then down to the bottom of the Switchback Trail where we took the shuttle bus back up to Hurricane Ridge. Overall our route was 5 miles with 1,200 ft of overall gain. We had lovely views, lots of wildflowers and we saw 4 bears, fantastic hike! Views looking south and southwest from the parking area of Hurricane Ridge and a zoom of Mt Olympus
View of our trail looking east towards Mt Angeles and Klahhane Ridge
The only marmot we saw today was far down the meadow hiding behind some grass
Looking to the west across Sunrise Point towards Hurricane Hill. On the slope of the ridge were 3 bears and 2 deer. zoom of the mama bear with two cubs
View to the north across the Strait of Juan de Fucca to Canada
We had views of snow capped Olympic Peaks and fields of glacier lilies along our route
Views further along the trail, looking west where we were hiking earlier on this trail and Mt Olympus in the distance
looking south towards Steeple Rock Pillar and snow capped Olympic Peaks
We passed meadows filled with larkspur, some paintbrush and other wildflowers
Views as we headed up the Switchback Trail to Klahhane Ridge, we saw another black bear high up on the edge of a meadow on Mt Angeles (my photos turned out very blurry so I have no photo)
Views from up on Klahhane Ridge, the east side of Mt Angeles
Looking down towards Port Angeles, the Dungeness Spit and across the water to a distant Mt Baker
We had a nice lunch break up on KLahhane Ridge, views to the south and southwest
Back at Hurricane Ridge, we saw the clouds moving in
