Tahkenitch Dunes and Threemile Lake Loop

We drove to the Tahkenitch Dunes Trailhead south of Florence Oregon, to hike the TAhkenitch Dunes and Threemile Lake Loop Trail,  this was about 6.5 miles with an overall gain of 700 ft. The diversity on this trail was amazing! We had the majority of the trail to ourselves, seeing only 4 other hikes in the last 2 miles.

The trail goes through a temperate rainforest. On reaching the loop, we went counterclockwise. Here we were hiking under large rhododendron bushes,

further down the trail, nearing the dunes,

across the dunes,

back into the forest,

reaching Tahkenitch Creek, near where it enters the Pacific Ocean.

Using a rope to get from the dunes to the beach.

Here, the route goes south along the beach for a mile.

We didn't see any other people while we were hiking along the beach.

Heading back up to the dunes,

where we soon enter the forest again.

Threemile Lake.

From the lake, the trail heads northwards,

where we crossed a large bridge, with

a view of the top of Threemile Lake.

The temperate rainforest was lush and beautiful, a pleasure to walk through.
