Neahkahnie Mountain

We attempted to drive up to the Neahkahnie Mountain North trailhead this morning, but that section of Hwy 101 was closed over the weekend for a bridge repair. After finding a long route to take us to Hwy 101 south of the town of Manzanita, we drove up 101 as far as we were allowed and walked up the side of the road about 0.3 miles to the trailhead. Our overall hike was 4.8 miles with 1,200 ft of gain.  The first part of the trail had some nice views of the Pacific Ocean. view towards the south

Soon the trail entered the coastal forest and we continued up.
There were some tall trees,
lots of moss,

and some lichen hanging from tree branches.

The spur trail up to the viewpoint was steep, full of roots, and then rocky.
