Hurricane Ridge Snowshoe

After our hike up to Lake Angeles, we found the road open to Hurricane Ridge, so we drove up to do a short snowshoe before the area closed at 4:15. We went part way up towards Sunrise Point and down through the meadow area, overall 1 mile and 200 ft of gain. Views from the Hurricane Ridge parking area, looking southwest

and southeast

Part way up the hill from the parking area, view to the south

and to the southwest.
zoom towards Mount Olympus.

View to the west of Mt Angeles, Klahhane Ridge and a distant Glacier Peak
zoom of Glacier Peak across Hood Canal and Puget Sound

We continued up, looking at Sunrise Point we would see fresh snow slides on both sides of the ridge, as the avalanche was considerable today, we decided not to go our on the ridge.

View of Hurricane Hill and other peaks to the northwest

Another view looking towards Mount Olympus as we snowshoed down to the meadow area.

Views along the north edge of the meadow area, here Hurricane Hill,

Looking across the strait we could see Vancouver Island in the far distance.

Heading back across the meadow towards the parking area and distant peaks to the south. Gorgeous views on this beautiful warm day.
