Along our drive through New Mexico, we stopped at Piers Maracas Canyon to hike the loop trail in Petroglyph National Monument. We started along the Piers Macadas Trail and came back up along the mesa top for a 3 mile loop.The trail is roped through the sand close to the black rocks to easily see the many petroglyphs in this area.
Some views of the from on top of the mesa as we returned towards the parking area at the beginning of the loop, we only saw two other people up here on the mesa, 
and we saw 3 coyotes.
I used a zoom lens to capture the images of some of the petroglyphs that were a bit further up the hill on the lower section.
