Woods Canyon

We drove to the Red Rock Ranger District Visitor Center in the Coconino National Forest to hike the Woods Canyon Trail, which enters the Munds Mountain Wilderness. We hiked about 9 miles round trip with 550 ft of overall gain. The trail leaves from the Visitor Center and soon crosses Dry Beaver Creek. view downstream
View upstream where we crossed.

The trail traveled through oak forest, open meadows and through lovely red rocks.

The trail was very peaceful today. We didn't encounter any other hikers until we were hiking back.

There were several places where it was easy to walk down to the creek.

The views along the creek were lovely.

Some red cliffs towering above us along portions of the trail.

more creek views along the trail

lots of cacti here

We found a beautiful spot right by the trail to stop for a break.

We then continued up the trail a ways.

We found a nice spot in the red rocks to take our lunch break before returning.

This tree gave us some much needed shade during our break.

Fun day in Red Rock Country!
