Wave Cave and Shaka Cave

We drove to the Lost Goldmine Trailhead in the Superstition Wilderness to hike up to Wave Cave and Shaka Cave this morning, overall 4.8 miles round trip with 1,155 ft of gain. It felt good to have a fairly flat section of trail to start on, to stretch our legs after yesterday's steep hike.

Love the colors in the sky to the west as we start our hike before the sun rises over the horizon.

Lovely mountains

The cholla seemed bright this morning and the sun lit up the distant cliffs.

The Wave Cave can be seen below the cliffs to the right as we head up the trail.

We hiked past lovely rock formations.

We enjoyed the beauty of the scenery along our routes today.

  1. Great post about a fun hike. It is fitting that the Wave Cave is within the base of the "Three Sisters" formation in the Superstition Wilderness.
