Hex Mountain

We drove out on the Salmon La Sac Road to hike up Hex Mountain today. On the way we saw this herd of elk besides the road. It was icy, so we wore micro spike from where we parked the car on the side of the road and throughout our hike today. The snow was mostly firm packed, we post holed in a few areas. We took a wrong turn near the beginning of the hike, but soon realized our error and turned around. Overall, 7.75 miles with 2,600 ft of gain.
View looking over at Cle Elum Lake from where the summer trail leaves the closed forest service road, about 1.7 miles up the forest road.

Further up, we can see the top of Hex Mountain

view to the northwest, lit up in the far distance is Mount Hinman and Mount Daniel

View from the top of Hex Mountain towards the south/southeast, it was very cold and windy, so we only stayed up long enough to take photos.
to the west Cle Elum Lake

to the northeast Teanaway Peaks

more peaks to the northwest

short steep route down off of the top of Hex Mountain

Love hikes, where we hike into the views on our way back, we took a lunch break when the wind settled down for a while. We returned to the car by the time the snow started to fall.
