Shi Shi Beach and Point of Arches

For our second hike at Neah Bay, we hiked down to Shi Shi Beach and down to the Point of Arches. This was an 8 mile round trip.
The first 1.7 miles is on the reservation in the forest.
 a beautiful forest

A good portion of the trail is very muddy.

Before entering Olympic National Forest, there are a couple of places to look out at the ocean below

At the boundary to Olympic National Park, the trail goes down to Shi Shi Beach. It is a steep 200 ft descent

View to the north of Shi Shi Beach
The tide was going out and revealed tide pools a short ways down the beach, with the Point of Arches in the far distance

we found lots of sea anemones in the tide pools

The end of the Point of Arches as seen with the tide going out:

low tide was +1 feet, which was quite a bit lower than the last time I was here.

There were lots of sea stars and sea anemones here
It was fun to walk out at the Point of Arches and to see the various arches

There is a large rock back near the shore with a cave in the base
