After hiking a few miles along the Gila River section of the Arizona Trail we drove to the Florence and Kelvin Trailhead for the Arizona Trail as we heard the poppies were blooming along the first 1/2 mile or so going southbound.

We saw wild hyacinth in bloom

We did see several patches of poppies.

Prickly pear and distant mountain peaks to the north.

view to the south

Saguaros along the trail

We enjoyed seeing the poppies, but had found more wildflowers on the Gila River segment earlier today.
