We drove to the Cathedral Wash Trailhead off of Lees Ferry Road, south of Page Arizona, to hike the lower Cathedral Wash Trail. This is a 3 mile round trip hike, but we stopped where it would take some serious scrambling to continue, making our hike 2 miles this morning.

View from the trailhead looking east

I was surprised to learn, this trail (lower Cathedral Wash was in Grand Canyon National Park)

The wash starts our wide
and narrows as it winds its way downstream

It is amazing to see how water, wind and rocks transform the canyon rolls

Most of the wash was dry,

but we did find some ice covered water in a couple of places this morning

The first shallow drywall's were easy to get down into

Further down the wash, we saw some interesting rock formations on top of the canyon walls

a large slab of rock has fallen down off the canon wall

more interesting rock formations on top of the canyon wall

another slightly deeper drywall to descend

we saw an arch high up on the canyon wall

zoom of the arch

We reached a much deeper dryfall, that I was uncertain if I could safely descend, much less make my way back up.

End of our descent into Cathedral Wash today, we enjoyed hiking though this wash

some views as we returned up the wash
