A beautiful sunny day today inspired me to do a hike with views at the top. So I went up to hike Mount Walker along the north end of Hood Canal. In the winter the road is closed, so you hike 1/4 mile to the trailhead, then up 2,000 ft in 2 miles to the north viewpoint. 1/2 mile across the top of Mount Walker then takes you to the south viewpoint. So a 5.5 mile hike with 2,000+ ft of gain.

A beautiful forest.

Ran into consistent snow about 1/4 mile from the top. Quite icy about 1/8 mile further up the trail.
Panorama from the north viewpoint:

There was about 3-4" of snow on the top of Mount Walker
Panorama from the south viewpoint:
Besides Mt Rainier, I could also see Mt Adams and Mt St Helens today.
