Johnston Canyon Trail Banff National Park

We stopped in Banff today to hike the Johnston Canyon Trail. This is about a 4 mile round trip with the side trails to the falls and lookouts.
The trail stays close to Johnston Creek for most of the way. There are catwalks extending from the overhanging canyon walls for part of the trail.
This was a beautiful walk through the forest in the canyon.
The views were stunning both ways along the trail.
There were several small falls along Johnston Creek.
About 3/4 of a mile from the trailhead there is a bridge across the creek where you can see Lower Falls.
There is also a short tunnel through the canyon bedrock, where you get a closer look at Lower Falls

and you can feel the spray.

Looking down at the pool below the falls and the opening of the tunnel.

Another small falls further up the trail.

 And another one.
A little over 1.5 miles from the trailhead is the side trail down to the bottom of Upper Falls.

There is another side trail with a platform overlooking the falls from the top of the falls. Panoramic View from this platform:

On the upper platform

Interesting rock walls with erosion on the canyon walls.

This falls were a short distance up creek from Upper Falls.

The views were as beautiful on the way back!
